Match Report
A very windy practice day saw 5 of the team under instructions of team captain Andy D
covering all the  areas in both sides of the res.  In the tough conditions only 9 fish
were caught but at least we identified 3 holding areas, Norcot Arm in the small section,
Duffers Beach and Sailing Club Bay in the main section. It was hard work but all 5 of us
managed to catch, blobs on di7 worked best in the main section and slowly fished
cormorants did the business in the small area. On match day all our fish were taken
in the areas identified in practice, structured practice paid off.
Match Day
Andy Croucher joined us after a long drive from North Wales and brought with him much
better than forecast weather, perfect 6-8 mph S wind  and not too bright.
At the start the majority of boats stayed in the small section and headed for Norcot Arm,
Andy D , Andy C and myself joined them.  My boat partner was Mark Matherson of
the Police, the three lions on his red hat only roared a little bit and didn't frighten me too much!
I started on  3 Lindsay buzzers under the bung and had two fish in the first hour, but then it went
slow, though the Lion man in my boat continued to catch. By this time Andy D had taken 5
on a d/bach washing line on a di3. I took a lead from the captain and changed to his method
and took my last six fish in 90 minutes, 4 on D/bach and 2 on the Kitch blob.
Mark finished an hour before me, but I had better fish,  2.5 lb more and the Lions roared no more!
Andy C straight lined buzzers for his limit and caught his 4+ lb Rainbow to bag up by 2pm.
Brain and David were amongst the few boats that ventured into the big section and did
well to bag up, others didn't. The fish taken in the large section were on average
8 oz lighter than in the smaller section.
When Graeme came in with his limit and then David it was full house, the only team
to all bag up. We lost first place to the police on time bonus and  none of their rods
fished the large section with the smaller fish average weight.
The meal at the Coach and Horse rounded off a great day,
                                                                                                        Lucky pete.

news

Four of our members are involved in International events this year. Congratulations to Andy Croucher, Paul Kitchen (England) and Jock Kettles (Scotland) on their Loch  Style Caps. Also for the first time in the club's history we have a member of the English National Rivers team in our ranks, well done Graham Lumsden.
