The Soldier Palmers

Happy New Year and I hope that 2012 will bring us all every good fortune on the water.  I want to thank all of you for your commitment and dedication over the last year; the Soldier Palmers has gone from strength to strength and there was a fantastic feeling of comradeship last year.  I trust that this will continue through 2012 so that we can continue to develop our team performances as well as bringing on the less experienced, but no less enthusiastic, new members.

I want to set the scene for this coming year and the old hands will note a similar theme.  The main effort is for us to win the Inter Services and all that we do must focus our efforts on this target.  This does not preclude us from competing at every opportunity and aiming to win, in fact the more competitions the better as this helps us develop our ability and then share skills with other members of the Federation.  Please continue with the friendly atmosphere we developed last year whilst being fiercely competitive without losing focus on our values and standards.

I will be handing over the Chair of the AAF(G) this year as I am leaving the Army.  I am delighted to let you know that Richard T will replace me and as a long serving member of the Federation he is in a perfect position to assist with the continuing development.  All that remains for me to say is that it has been fantastic to be Chairman of the AAF(G) but my life has been made easy by the selfless commitment of all those who have taken positions of responsibility and kept me on the right track!  I will not be relinquishing my membership and will become an old lag so I look forward to seeing you at the Spring Match where the formal handover to Richard will take place.

All that remains is for me to wish you all the best of the coming season and look forward to seeing you on the water
Tight lines
 Bob
