Kev,

by my observation your lump looks to have a wee vision problem and in need of a guide hound.
Still ....... it could sniff oot pink powerbait at 20 yards

Top angling guys, Andy and I were on the Test today, nowt that size tho'

The southern rivers qualifier is done,

It was a great Fed team effort with 5 of our anglers, Andy, Rob, Dave, Lindsay and me putting in practice days in all weathers
(except warm and sunny) since Xmas.

18 anglers fished the qualifier, 9 morning and afternoon and Grayling were the only counters.
You could roam anywhere over several miles of chalk stream carriers.
Rob and Dave fished the morning, I was drawn to control Rob, who is new to river fishing.

With start temps of minus 5 the fish didn't play for the first 1 1/2 hours but at 1100 Robs Duo dipped and he struck into a grayling,
did a wee jig around the bank to please the crowd and after a minutes excitement he netted the fish. Handing me the net he told
me it was small and probably wouldn't measure (only a 15cm limit). The fish ONLY JUST measured at 30.2  ,
should've gone to specsavers buddy

With 2 minutes left in the 3 hour session he was in again, another tiddler that ONLY went 39.5 cm, a cracking mornings session.

The afternoon saw me, Lindsay and Andy drawn and we bomburst to the extremes of the beat, Andy and I fished in isolation for all and most of our sessions. Tough to do as you always think you're not getting enough, In Andys case he did not see another angler for the
whole 3 hours and came back to the hut with a mild case of paranoia.

I got back in amongst other competitors for the last hour and wished i hadn't, too crowded for me.
Anyway a couple of questions to other controllers and I was under pressure, i needed fish quickly.
They didn't come but I had a consolation fish with 60 seconds on the clock; my 3 fish weren't enough to qualify.

Andy's worry proved unfounded as his 5 lumps got him a second spot and through to the final, top angling.
A great performance from Rob, his mornings efforts got him through to the final - good angling marra

Lindsay and Dave were out of fishing luck and like myself now have a free weekend in the summer.

I'm personally gutted but more importantly i'm really appreciative of the team effort, thank you guys and will
do all I can to help Andy and Rob get a SP in a top 6 spot in the national.
