Guys not sure whether any of you have come across this guy before but his tying videos and skills are excellent. He covers many paterns and though graham has taught me lots of what I know I begin to see there maybe is a way to save money on super glue and head cement..by using more thread..
I've just got back into fly tying, so I had a look through you tube for any hints and tips and Davie McPhail is by far the best fly tyer that I've ever seen, the guy is an artist, I recommend any fly tyer, young or old to check it out.
I have to agree that they are very good and easy to follow. we have a fair few very good flytyers within the Soldier Palmer Team and some developing enthusiasts.
I must admit, I'm addicted to tying flies now after watching these vids. I suppose I had to fill the gap after stopping smoking. I'm finding myself going through old flies that I've tied and shaking my head, but its onwards and upwards.
I'm off up to Glasgow this weekend and it just so happens that the Glasgow Angling center is having an open weekend and Davie McPhail willbe there, I'm like a big kid going to see Santa in his Groto.
Just got back from Glasgow and meeting Davie was an enlightening experience, he definitely is the master of the vise, you can tell he truly does love tying flies and He's more than happy to impart with knowledge on how the flies work and how best to fish them. He's probably the most Friendly outgoing person I have ever met.
yet again I was up at the Glasgow angling Centre last weekend and Davie was in there giving demonstrations and just chilling and tying away all day. it may be a long shot but if you get in contact with the Glasgow angling centre at http://www.fishingmegastore.com and go to the contact us TAB and Email them they may be able to help out, you never know, Davie may even help out at the Army show down in Aldershot if he's asked.
I've subscribed to Davie Mcphail's channel on you tube, every other week there's a new pattern or a new twist on an old pattern its well worth a visit.
