The Black Fur Blob I not a big fan of blobs but know on their day they can be devastating. I doubt there is not a competition angler in the country that does not have a huge selection of blobs. This is a blob with a difference, it's made with fur rather than fritz. It's a simple fly and should not take long to master.
Whip the tying thread onto the hook (Hayabusa 751 size 6). I am using black thread, although depending on what colour of blob you want to tie you can change the thread to a different colour.
Attach the fur body onto the hook and using tight turns wind it up the shank of the hook.
Make sure you leave ample room at the hook eye to finish off. You need to whip finish at this stage as we need to brush the hair back.
Using a wire brush sweep the hair back until you are satisfied that it looks good.
Now cast your thread back onto the hook and you can attach your eyes. I am using a picric dyed jungle cock feathers for this example, but goose biots also work well. Finish off by varnishing the head.
This stuff comes in various colours and I am sure pink and orange would be just as effective.
