The Black Buzzer I pretty much only use this buzzer when buzzer fishing, you know that odd half day a season. On a more serious note I can write on the back of a postage stamp what I know about buzzer fishing but I know what I like and I like this.
Whip the tying thread onto the hook (Kamasan B110 size 10) in this case. I am using black thread depending on what colour of buzzer you want to tie you can change the thread and the peacock herl to a different colour.
Strip the fuzz of a single peacock herl strand with your thumb and forefinger nail. Using the bottom of the herl is best as this is where it is strongest. You only need around an inch and a half anyway.
Tie the stripped strand in at the butt and bring your thread back up to the eye of the hook.
Wind the stripped peacock herl up the hook as you would any other ribbing material. Trim the excess peacock herl away.
Tie in two goose biots on either side of the head, I am using yellow but again you can vary the colour. Don't make the head to small or to big or the fly will be out of proportion.
Pull the goose biots forward past the eye and secure with a few turns of thread.
Remove the excess goose biots and finish the fly of with a couple of half hitches or a whip finishing tool. Once the fly is complete give it as many coats of Sally Hanson Hard as Nails as you feel necessary.
The finished article when you are bored catching on blobs give this a bash.
