SOLDIER PALMERS – ABOUT US

The Army Angling Federation Game (AAF (G)) represents the Game discipline of the Army Angling Federation.  The Soldier Palmers Team (SPT) is the name of our competition squad which supplies anglers to compete in most Loch Style Competitions in the UK; these include the AMFC Leagues 2 and 4, the Angling Water AIRFLO International (AWFMI), LEXUS and other competitions.  We have also more recently had members competing in river competitions.

The aims of the AAF (G) are to promote and foster game angling in the Army for serving and ex-serving members and their dependants.  To achieve this we normally have three annual meetings, two of which are English, Scottish and Welsh qualifying matches.  The standard of our top echelon anglers are a match for any within the UK and Europe and we regularly have SPT members representing the Army competing at international level.

Membership: Membership of the Federation is open to:

Full Members:
All serving ranks of the Regular Army.

Associate Membership:
Dependants of serving members of the Regular Army.
Members of the TA, NRPS and Regular Reserve.
MOD (A) civilian staff.

Associate membership is limited up to a maximum of one third of the total membership.  The number is limited so as to preserve the charitable status of the Federation.  The Federation through our Chairman reserves the right to authorise or decline associate membership, each application will be looked at individually.

Benefits and Subscriptions:

The annual subscription of £40.00 is payable by all members and runs from 1st January to 31st December; the cost of subscription is to be reviewed for the 2012 season.  If new applicants wish to join they are not required to pay annual subscriptions until after they have attended either the Spring Match or Army Championships (‘try before you buy’ scheme).

news

Four of our members are involved in International events this year. Congratulations to Andy Croucher, Paul Kitchen (England) and Jock Kettles (Scotland) on their Loch  Style Caps. Also for the first time in the clubs history we have a member of the English National Rivers team in our ranks, well done Graham Lumsden.
