The Soldier Palmers

Thanks to all who entered the Army Championships this year it was a fabulous event and the spirit in which it was held was just what the Federation is all about; fierce competition but with an air of camaraderie.  Thanks to all of the organising team who made it run so smoothly; this is always done with some detriment to their own performance so I am extremely grateful for your altruistic approach.  My congratulations to Del S on winning the event, a close run thing I know but good angling in some challenging conditions.  Well done Andy C for winning the Associate competition, clearly retirement has not dulled your edge!

At the time of writing we do not know how many have qualified for the England Eliminator but because of the commitment of all at the Armies we should have a good smattering of Soldier Palmers fighting for a place in the England team.  This is great news for those of you who qualify but also for the rest of us as you will learn from the best in the country, whether you qualify or not, which will benefit the Federation.  Well done to those of you who secure a place and tight lines for the eliminator.

I was pleased to see so many new members at Rutland and many doing extremely well; a sign that we are all pulling together and have strength in depth.  The activity on the Forum shows how committed you all are and that any opportunity to fish is taken by all.  The commitment to the AMFC and other competitions has been impressive, particularly when we are all so busy.  Fishing is a great way for us to get together and step out of our busy and challenging lives for a while, recharge our batteries and feed our competitive spirit.  I urge you all to keep recruiting for the Federation, there are loads of guys out there who fish but keep their head down and many more who would love it if only they had the chance to try it.  Fishing for Forces will provide that opportunity and I am grateful for those who have helped Bill Howell; he is keen to help many more so do signpost those who want to try towards Bill and his team.

It is good to see that we are holding our own in the AMFC rounds and have progressed in the Anglian water competition.  Well done to all of you who have given so much time and effort for the Soldier Palmers.  This all bodes well for our performance in the Inter Services which I know we have the talent and commitment to win.

Tight lines

Bob
